Academic Requirements by Major
In order to receive academic credit, you must meet the specific class requirements set forth by your college.
Courses ending in '6' are Co-ops, and courses ending in '8' are Internships. You must have a KSU GPA to be considered for the programs.

ACCT 3396 (Co-op)
- Participation Requirements:
- An overall GPA of at least 2.5
- 30 Credit Hours Completed
- A grade of “C” or better in ACCT 3100
- Grading: S/U
- Credit Type: Business Elective / Credit toward CPA
- Max Credits: 3 per semester (6 total Business Elective credits)
- Note: Co-op credit can be used only in the “Business Electives” area of the BBA
ACCT 3398 (Internship)
- Participation Requirements:
- An overall GPA of at least 3.0
- Admitted to Coles
- A grade of “C” or better in ACCT 3100
- Grading: S/U
- Credit Type: Business Elective / Credit toward CPA
- Max Credits: 6 Business Elective credits
- Note: Internship credit can be used only in the “Business Electives” area of the BBA

Economics & Finance
ECON/FIN 3396
- Total Credit Hours: NOTE: Students may only earn a maximum of 6 credit hours total for co-ops
- GPA: 2.5+
- Prerequisite: As of Summer 2018: 30 credits, Concurrent enrollment in FIN 3100 or FIN 3100 completed with grade of “C” or better
- Credit Hours Per Semester: Up to 3
- Credit Hours Per Employer: Up to 3 in one semester (1 credit for every 10 hours/week up to 3 credits); up to 6 over maximum of two consecutive semesters*; No additional course credit over 6 hours will be granted for co-ops. 3 additional course credits may be earned through an internship (FIN 3398), but students must meet all qualifications to participate in the internship. (*e.g. fall/spring; spring/summer; spring/fall)
- Recent Employment: Eligible if employment date in semester immediately preceding enrollment semester
- Ongoing Employment: Eligible with promotion, transfer or significant new duties to commence in enrollment semester or semester immediately preceding enrollment semester; requires EFQA approval
- Internship Credit Hours / Work Hours: Fall/Spring (16 weeks): 3 credit hours – 10-19/week; 6 credit hours – 20+/week; Summer (8 weeks): 3 credit hours – 15-29/week; 6 credit hours – 30+/week
ECON/FIN 3398
- Total Credit Hours: Up to 9, but only 6 with the same employer
- GPA: 3.0+
- Prerequisite: FIN 3100 completed with grade of “C” or better
- Credit Hours Per Semester: Up to 6
- Credit Hours Per Employer: Up to 6 in a single semester (a second semester at the same firm will be considered and requires departmental approval with significantly new responsibilities)- Co-op credit earned will reduce credit allowed for internships

The work experience may not be with a current employer.

* The supervisor evaluation link will be sent (toward the end of the semester) to the supervisor of each student enrolled in a co-op course. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the evaluation is completed by their supervisor and returned to the Department of Career Planning and Development on time.
NOTE: Co-ops should have some form of compensation; options may include salary, commuting expenses, meals, and/or events. Co-ops may be a multiple semester commitment, so Co-op students are able to reapply each semester with “No Changes” to their responsibilities. Co-ops can only earn a maximum of 3 credit hours per semester.
- Internships may be paid or unpaid.
- You must have a KSU GPA to be considered for the programs. Transfer students must complete at least 1 semester to be eligible for internship/co-op credit.

- If your internship/co-op is more than 50 miles away from KSU, your fees may be waived if requested through the registrar. Contact your Career and Internship Advisor for details.
